Murder vs Hit-and-run
I'm disgusted.. Saturday's Home section headlines story was on a lorry driver who had run over a cabbie and dragged him a good 800m before trying to 'dislodge' him by making a U-turn. The cabbie obviously died while the lorry driver got away with just 4 years imprisonment and a life ban on driving.
So here's what's bothering me.... If the lorry driver could escape with just 4 years jail for knocking down and killing a man, what about murderers or those jailed for manslaughter? Taking another person's life, with an obvious intention to do so is tantamount to murder, regardless of motive or process. So why the disparity in sentencing here?
Here's what my boyfriend and I have concluded, if ever, someone offends you and drives you to a point of wanting to murder him, don't. Instead, wait for an opportunity for him to cross the road or like situation and knock him down. At the very worst, you get jailed for a couple of years and lose your liscense.
Small price to pay to appease your anger.
Opinions anyone?
