soccer frenzy
World Cup 2006 has certainly taken the neighbourhood by storm. Its hard not to be caught up in the excitement actually... Imagine, I actually rushed home from town last night just to catch the Australia-Japan match.. Major disappointment man... Only thing I can be glad is I played safe last night.. *cold sweat* I can only imagine how much those uncles at the coffeeshop lost.. I was there with my brother and 1 minute to fulltime, a big group of them walked off, swearing... We found out that one of them had bet heavily on Japan and he lost close to a thousand...
So that was the first match... After that disappointing match, we went home... No mood to watch the next two.. But I was kept awake all night by the shouts of 'Goal!!' coming from the coffeeshop.. And I was half tempted to walk down there myself..
I don't profess to be a soccer guru, I just enjoy watching the game and getting caught up in the euphoric atmosphere the game brings about.. And it has indeed brought my brother and I closer.. We've been discussing the matches played and to be played.. My mum just rolls her eyes... :)
Oh yeah, went for a super lunch buffet at Meritus Mandarin with my brother. It was supposed to be a family thing but due to some screw-up at the immigration side, it was just G and me... It was a little awkward initially, seeing that we're not as close as we used to be.. But it got loads better during the course of the lunch as we pigged out... The selection wasn't the greatest but the quality of the food is definately tops.. After that, we even went shopping at HMV.. How's that for sibling bonding? :)
Went home after that to catch some shut eye before Mr A came to pick me up for dinner.. Wasted time at Great World before we decided to head down to Happy Daze to catch some soccer action.. Thank God for connections, we had a super spot, right in the centre, in front of the screen.. But it was a boring match... Headed down to Clementi after that for supper, just in time to catch the 2nd match.. Definately more interesting than the 1st..
So, that was my Saturday...
This entry is getting kinda lengthy... Shall end here...
Oh yes, we've finally gone wireless!! Whoo-hoo!!
