Premium childcare, worth or waste?

I happened to chance upon a blog by this mum who posted an entry on premium childcare. I was doing some read up on my own about the various methods and childcare offered these days; Shichida Method, Growing Up Gifted, Berries, Pat's Schoolhouse, Julia Gabriel, Eton Pre School etc.
Well, I have my take on this. While people who know what I do for a living may contest that my view is biased, I beg to differ. My view on this has got nothing to do with the influence of my profession, rather what I've seen over time and what I believe.
Like many others, I find it hard to swallow the fact that people are actually willing to pay exorbitant fees for childcare. To be honest, $800 a month is a little tough on the pocket, mine to be specific. However, comments from parents of like childcares have mentioned, they rather pay the money than to save on it by sending their children to cheaper centres. Reason? Simple, quality.
You may argue that neighbourhood centres these days have quality and qualified teachers. I do not deny that but the difference is in the approach and the culture of each childcare centre. Communication, I feel is of utmost importance and it's something parents appreciate from the teachers. It's that personal touch that also matters.
At the end of the day, my opinion is this: whether it's Pat's Schoolhouse or NTUC childcare, it is ultimately the individual teacher that makes the difference.
One thing's for sure, you gotta love the job and the charges in your care to make that difference. What's $800 a month if my child is in good hands? You decide.
