adventure...
I was driving to work this morning and everything was a-ok until I reached the traffic light, turning into the small road leading to my school. And the car just died!!! I panicked and turned off the engine and tried to restart the car but no, it refused to. I was really panicking because there were cars behind me. And boy are Singaporeans impatient. Instead of help, all I received were loud honks. That made me panick even more. Called my mom and tried to get the mechanic's number. Took all of 20 minutes for the sms to come through. I was frantically trying to revive the car but it just simply refused to. Argh!! So I walked out and opened the car boot to display the triangle. That shut everyone up... Jeez...
From there, I received more sympathetic looks instead of the 'what-the-hell-are-you-doing' look. Before that, I had 2 drivers who showed me the finger and a couple more who wound down their windows to curse and shake their fist at me. So I put on my best innocent and blur look. I was so so embarrassed. When I finally called the mechanic, who called the tow truck, I heaved a sigh of relief. Now, all I had to do was wait. It was a good thing it was pretty cool so I didn't melt in the car. The mechanic took almost an hour to come.
Called silly goose and he was nice enough to keep me company on the phone for a little while. He even called back to make sure things were alright.
While I was waiting there for the tow truck, many of my student's parents passed by in their cars. All but one, went past me without stopping. The one who was nice enough to stop and asked if I needed help couldn't help me because he was blocking traffic so I had to say no, but thanks. Well, it was a big comfort though...
I even had one student who was in a cab with her mother and she waved goodbye to me!! Argh!! But I guess I couldn't blame anyone, I was really just in the way and anyone who wanted to help would cause more obstruction.
Tow truck came and I went to the workshop. Mechanic took out something and put in something and voila! Like magic, the car started..
Oh, before that, my daddy called. First question, "What happened to the car?" argh..... not "Are you ok?" Sigh... After reassuring him that his car is fine, he wanted to speak to the mechanic, who by the way, is his good friend. He spoke to me for like 10 seconds and spent the next 2 minutes talking to the mechanic!!! Anyway, the car's fixed, for now...
What a dramatic morning... Reached work at 11plus... and now I'm home...
