13th All Asians Debating Championship 2006
Just like that, Asians is over. All 9 days of it... 25 hours worth of bus ride to and fro... 9 rounds of debating, including a mock round... Social events, lousy adjudication (some of the time)...
It was overall a good break, although I didn't get to see much of the beautiful beaches Langkawi is famous for... The one day we actually made it to the beach, it HAD to rain.. But we had fun canoeing (or rather, beaching), playing beach soccer and netball.. It was really fun, minus the sun tan..
What I really liked was the fact that the debate venues were in the hotel... Which meant to say, we could go back to our hotel rooms after each round.. Well, almost.. So kudos to the organising committee for that!
Food was good and cheap, shopping was average but the company was fantabulous!!! Big big thank you to the SAID and NP contingent. You guys were great company, most of you, that is.. :) Special thank you to Nasha.. Thanks babe, you were my partner in crime.. In a lot of ways.. :)
Asians has always left me with happy memories, and this time round is no different. It was culturally enriching, meeting delegates from Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, India, Middle East, Indonesia and of course, Singapore. All barriers were taken down when we inter mingled with each other. Of course, in the debate chamber, we are all competitors, but once outside, we became friends.. International events like these, bring out the best in people.. It doesn't matter where we come from, family backgrounds etc. We were brought together for a common passion, debating.
I had alot of fun, touring Langkawi, shopping, hanging out and making friends. Special thanks to someone for making this Asians particularly memorable.. :) No need for elaboration... For more details, refer to me.. Buy me an Ultimate Iced Blended without whipped cream and I might just fill you in... :)
I'm exhausted right now.. I might fill in more details in my future entries but right now, that's all folks!
