The Cancer Charity Show 2005

Watching the National Cancer Foundation Charity Show tonight made me think about and realise many things. Watching all these charity shows and like tv serials always make me very emotional.

It makes me, even for just that moment, realise how fortunate I am. That my trivial problems are nothing compared to the agony and sufferings all these patients and their families go through. As cliche as it may sound, I honestly feel blessed.

Seeing the clips on the various patients and their families also set me thinking. If I were to, one day, be in the same situation, would I also have the support of loved ones?

Perhaps the one item that touched was that performed by Weilian, the Superstar winner. Yes, I admit, I had strong opinions on his winning Superstar. But seeing him perform in the charity show just upped my level of respect for him. I still stand by what I've said before, he's no doubt a good singer but definately not Superstar material. However, his short yet sincere performance really brought home the message.

Not discrediting the very macho performance by Tay Ping Hui and Allan Wu too. I was literally cringing in pain as I watched my idol (Tay Ping Hui) attempt to break the metal chains. Perhaps it was the chain marks left on his arms that did it, but I was just in awe after the stunt.

The stunt segment by Thai stuntsman, Tony Jaa was way cool. Though very obviously rehearsed, it was nonetheless very well co-ordinated. He's definately better than Jackie Chan any day.

I'm digressing here. Anyhow, like I was saying, I was just overwhelmed by the show. No one deserves to be stricken by such illnesses and no one should suffer alone. I hope all these patients will find their ray of hope and look beyond their sufferings for the light at the end of the tunnel.
