lazy afternoon...
It must be the holiday mood... Feeling extremely tired and lethargic today. Anyway, I was rather shocked to hear about Steve Irwin's death. I mean, I don't profess to be a fan of the Crocodile Hunter but for the world to lose a nature legend like him is quite devastating. Whether he was truly passionate about the wildlife or he did it for popularity's sake, it doesn't matter. You can't doubt the amount of work and effort he put in to bring the wildlife to us... But I guess he died doing what he loved best, and to enthusiasts of any kind, that is the best way to go.
Which then led me to think...How would I want to go? Right now, I haven't quite thought of it but it is an interesting thought. Though some people view it as a taboo subject, I've always wondered what my funeral would be like... Who would be there? What will people talk about? What kind of mood will be present? I know, it's weird to be thinking of such things but it is worth some pondering, ain't it?
People plan for birthdays, weddings, engagements etc... Why not their own funerals?
After all, you would be the reason why people are there in the first place... So why not have it done the way you want it done?
I would like mine done in blue... No ugly wreaths please.. Nice floral arrangements... Orchids, sunflowers, roses etc.. And no funeral music too... Brazilian soul would be really cool... Not the loud, flamboyant kind but the jazzy kind.. No funeral garb too, for family... Black polo tees with jeans... Friends to also come in denim.. Seeing how much I like wearing denim and that I'm almost always seen in jeans. I would like my friend, Eric, to sing his rendition of 'Amazing Grace' too. And the Psaltry Harmony girls to sing 'Jesus Loves Me' and 'My Tribute'. For now, that would be it... When and if I think of more, I'll update this...:P
So you see, still a somber mood but with a twist...
Who says funerals have to follow tradition to be respectful to the dead? In my opinion, having my funeral done the way I would want it to be done, IS the greatest form of respect to me.
So, if there ever was a day and need... Please refer back to this entry people.. :P
